The Science Explorer badge reflects my initial steps in understanding and applying basic mathematical concepts within my volunteering role.
Starting my journey in practical numeracy has enhanced my engagement with real-life situations.
I had to complete at least 1 out of 2 tasks to earn this badge, and evidence was reviewed and confirmed by my mentor.
This badge is part of the Achievements Programme for the European Solidarity Corps.

Task no.1

1. Let’s start from counting volunteer’s monthly allowance. Draft a simple weekly budget plan for managing your personal pocket money. Identify what amount you should get and what are the expected expenses. Aim at finding the balance between income and expenses.
If you just started your project, ask your mentor to remind on the financial conditions of volunteering in the ESC programme.
Upload a photo or a file of your weekly budget with 2 columns of income and expenses.
The task is completed after the mentor confirms your evidence.

Task no.2

2. Compare the prices of the everyday use products of your hosting and sending country. Find out what is cheaper in the new place, and make a table showing prices from two places and a column identifying the difference in percentage.
You can use this simple website/tool to compare prices between different cities in the world (though it has mainly big cities)
Upload a photo of the table or a file as evidence of accomplishing this task.
The task is completed after the mentor confirms your evidence.
